Alegre-González, Arantxa

Arantxa Alegre-González is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Arabic at the Foreign Language Department in Towson University. She joined this department in 2005. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Arabic from Universidad Autonoma of Madrid and her B.A. in Spanish from UNED (Universidad Española a Distancia). She received her Ph.D. in Arabic an d Spanish (Medieval Comparative Travel Literature) from Universidad Autonoma of Madrid in 2004 after having already started her academic career in the United States. She has held previous faculty positions in higher education institutions such as Washington & Lee University (VA) and Middlebury College (VT). Her teaching, research, and publications are in the area of Medieval Travel Comparative Literature (in both, Arabic and Spanish) but other areas of her interest are the influence of Arabic and Islam in Spanish literature, Spanish literature and film, and Madrid in Spanish literature.
