About the author: Dr. Darias-Beautell received her PhD from the University of La Laguna (Spain), where she teaches English, American and Canadian Literatures. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Toronto on four occasions. She has published numerous articles on literary theory and criticism, Canadian and US literatures and cultures, and a book on the writings of the Japanese Canadian Joy Kogawa is forthcoming.
