About the author: Farah Mendlesohn lectures in American Studies at Middlesex University (London) and writes on the history of American religions and American science fiction. She is Features Editor of Foundation: The International Review of Science Fiction and until recently was Reviews Editor of Quaker Studies. She received her DPhil in History from the University of York.
