Honor J. Aldred is a lecturer at the University of Leeds, England where she currently teaches language, literature and translation studies. She obtained her PhD in sixteenth century French literature from the University of Sheffield.

It begins by considering his use of humor in its historical context, his story-telling skills, and his skill in manipulating language for humor, especially in puns, quotation and allusion. The full extent of the inspiration Marot draws from François Villon becomes apparent in his use of allusion.
