Ingrid E. Matos-Nin is a Visiting Assistant Professor and an Administrator of Hispanic Studies at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. She completed her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures at Boston University.

Contrary to some modern critics, the Spanish people of the Seventeenth century were very much aware of the significance, customs, and relevance of these supernatural beliefs in their lives.
