Gomez, Iris
About the poet: Iris Gomez was born in Cartagena, Colombia and immigrated to the U.S. as a child. She holds an M.F.A. in poetry and a law degree and works as a public interest attorney and law school lecturer in Boston. In 2001, an autobiographical collection of her poetry received Second Prize in the prestigious Chicano/Latino Literary Prize competition sponsored by the University of California at Irvine. Her poems have been widely published in literary journals.
