Dolphin, Kathleen

Kathleen Dolphin is a Catholic religious Sister. She is a member of the congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Founded in Ireland in the late 18th century, the Congregation now numbers over a thousand Sisters and there are PBVM Sisters serving in 20 different countries. The Sisters work for structural change especially in issues related to women and children, indigenous peoples, environment/sustainable living and human rights.
Over the years the Presentation Sisters have placed a high value on higher education. It is not unusual that a Sister would hold more than one degree. Sister Kathleen earned her doctorate at the University of Chicago, where she also completed a Master of Arts degree. She holds two other Master’s degrees: one in theology and spirituality from Creighton University, one in science education from the University of Montana.
Most recently, Sister Kathleen retired from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana where she taught religious studies and administered the nationally recognized Center for Spirituality. Prior to her thirteen years at Saint Mary’s, Sister Kathleen taught in the Institute of Pastoral Studies in the Graduate School at Loyola University Chicago for ten years. Sister Kathleen is a native of Chicago.

Praxis-Oriented Theology and Spirituality in the Sermons of Edward Schillebeeckx
2014 0-7734-3519-0
The first book to argue that spirituality and practical theology can be integrated by using Catholic theologian Edward Schillebeeckx’s understanding of the role played by human experience in the methodologies of both spirituality and practical theology. His sermons, considered as enactments of practical theology, explore various dimensions of this spirituality/praxis-oriented theology, and how he uses the category of human experience therein.
