Brown, Margaret Phipps

About the authors: Margaret Phipps Brown received her JD from Emory University School of Law. She is currently Professor of Criminal Justice at Marshall University, West Virginia. She is also a part-time Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Cabell County. Samuel L. Dameron received his PhD in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, Texas. He is currently Department Chair and Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Marshall University. Richard H. Moore received his PhD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is currently Department Chair and Director of the Graduate Program, and Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Marshall University.

Examines the dynamics of abusive relationships and the role of firearms in violent acts, in an attempt to assist policy-makers and NCHIP in facilitating the most effective response to domestic violence. The research was conducted by faculty in the Criminal Justice Department at Marshall University as part of a continuing commitment to education, training, and research about domestic violence. Included are a literature review, analyses of primary and secondary data collected, and recommendations for policy and training.
