About the author: Dr. Michael Santiago was born and raised in Trinidad, the West Indies, before moving to the United Kingdom. He holds a GA in Politics, an MA in European Studies, and a PhD on the newly formed Europol Drugs Unit. His is an Associate Lecturer with the University of Surrey.
2000 0-7734-7731-4This research examines the European criminal intelligence agency known as Europol, both within the context of its genesis and development to date, and against the background of police cooperation in Europe generally. The study examines the application of the centralised mode of information exchange to the information/intelligence exchange process between Europol and selected member states since its inception. The data gathered are analysed to show whether this mode is the most appropriate, or whether another model should have been adopted, or another one has evolved over a period of time.
