Mónica Ann Walker Vadillo acquired a B.A. and M.A. in Art History at the University of Florida. She also received a M.A. in Medieval Studies from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Art History at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain.
2008 0-7734-5243-5This study examines the visual representations of David watching Bathsheba bathing in French manuscript illuminations from the middle of the fifteenth to the sixteenth century. The author applies contemporary theories of the gaze to this medieval subject to consider the various interpretations of Bathsheba’s agency in the event of David’s adultery. This book contains 14 color photographs.
