About the author: Dr. Ainsa received her PhD from the University of Colorado. She was Department head of Inservice Education and Training at Providence Memorial Hospital, and has served as a professor at the University of Texas at El Paso for more than twenty years, teaching Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She has been an international author and presenter of scholarly research and educational materials.

Valuable pre-service teacher training information was obtained as questionnaire responses were recorded prior to and as a result of an in-service program for pre-service student teachers at a U. S. – Mexico border university.
