Thomas Durant, Jr., is Professor of Sociology at Louisiana State University. His research and teaching interests include, social inequality (race, gender and class), southern culture, criminology, gerontology, and global development. He obtained his Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
